Once you have
decided that the body modification you want is to have a tattoo done
then you will need to make sure that you pick a good and professional
tattoo artist who will do a good and professional job. A good tattoo
artist will also make sure that all proper safety precautions are in
place before and during the operation.
But what happens
when after you leave the tattoo parlor? Any body modification you
have completed needs to be looked after to avoid the threat of
infection and aid the healing process. Of course it helps to visit a
good quality tattoo artist who will take the necessary hygiene
precautions before commencing the tattoo. Of course you are the
customer the responsibility to make sure that the tattoo artist takes
the necessary hygiene precautions. If you are not happy with the
steps being taken or the cleanliness of the tattoo parlor then voice
your concerns to the tattoo artist, as there is no point in
complaining afterwards if you suffer illness when you were not happy
with the hygiene in the tattoo parlor.
Afterwards you should make
sure the area around the tattoo is kept clean and sterile whilst it
heals, cleaning should be done with soap and water or your tattoo
artist will be able to recommend a good tattoo ointment.
However it is important
not to use water too much when rinsing as this may damage the inks
used in the tattoo or it may disturb the scabs before they have the
chance to drop off naturally. It is not advisable to expose your
tattoo to too much sunlight as this can weaken the quality of the
tattoo pigments and it may need redoing at a later date.
